Hydrotherapy Pools and Spas

Hydrotherapy is one of the safest treatments for arthritis and back pain. The warm temperature of hydrotherapy pools allows your muscles to relax and eases the pain in your joints, making it easier to exercise. The water also supports your weight. Hydrotherapy pools are particularly beneficial to relieve painful joints, can increase the range of movement of your joints and are also used after joint replacement surgery. By pushing your arms and legs against the water, you can also improve your muscle strength.

Hydrotherapy pools can be installed for purely medical reasons, or can incorporate various water features like neck and back massage jets, or foot massage pads. The high temperature makes hydrotherapy pools suitable to incorporate a seat as well and provide seating for relaxation, just like a spa. The temperature is set just about body temperature so that you have a warm feeling & the moving water massages you in a way that only water can. The water gives you buoyancy that takes the tension off most parts of the body.

A spa should always be operating with supply of fresh filtered water when in use and for some period after to remove the body fats and other solids which are introduced and will also benefit from a modern non chlorine disinfection system

The most important thing to remember while considering a spa is that it is NOT just a small swimming pool. The bather loads are about 20 times more than a typical pool and the increased temperature, in the range of 34°C to 38°C, coupled with the air jets make it an altogether different cup of tea.
